AMD plans to be fabless by 2007
According to GZeasy, AMD is planning to become fabless by 2007. From then on AMD will concentrate on chip design and marketing, much in same way ATI and NVIDIA do now.
Once fabless, AMD's processors will be manufactured entirely by IBM and UMC, each company enjoying an equal proportion of the business. Whilst there's no news on who will take over AMD's Dresden FAB, IBM must be a firm favourite.
As I haven't seen any other news related this story, it will be interesting to see how it turns out.
