Intel may launch Jonah in 2H 2005 or 1H 2006

Intel's plan to integrate its families of notebook and desktop processors by introducing a single CPU, codenamed Jonah, to be used by both lines will not be realised until the second half of 2005 at the earliest, or in the first half of 2006 at the latest, according to sources at Taiwanese notebook makers.

Jonah will be the first CPU to have Intel's next-generation common processor core, which was derived from the Pentium M line of notebook chips, but which will also contain characteristics found in Intel's desktop CPUs.

The sources, who are familiar with Intel's CPU development projects, said Intel plans to use a 65nm process for manufacturing Jonah.
