ATI Radeon X850XT Platinum Edition update
With the official launch just over a week away, it's being suggested that ATI intends to up the price for its new flagship X850XT PE to $549. That's $50 more than the current and impossible to obtain Radeon X800XT PE. So what do you get for your money, a minor increase in core and memory speed, 20MHz and 60MHz respectively. That additional 20MHz core means a dual slot card to accommodate the larger cooler, not dissimilar to the one found on NVIDIA's disastrous FX range. The card should be available in quantity at the beginning of 2005.
