This morning Intel officially launched its Core 2 Duo desktop (Conroe) and mobile (Merom) processor range. The launch lineup is equally split, with five Core 2 desktop chips and five mobile ones. On the desktop front, the flagship $999 Core 2 Extreme X6800 is available today, with the rest of the desktop line planned for early August.
