Intel dual-core update

Like AMD, Intel's first dual-core processor is also scheduled to appear in Q3-2005. Each core on the firm's 90nm (Smithfield) - socket LGA 775, 800MHz bus processor - will have a dedicated 1MB L2 cache. A platform transition will take place as a new northbridge chipset is needed for dual core processor support. The dual-core, DDR2-667 supporting 955X (Glenwood) and 945G/P (Lakeport) northbridges should launch in Q2-2005.
